Turning 24 & Life Goals

On Saturday 23 September I turned 24 years old. Officially in my mid-twenties, proper ‘adult’ life some might say.

I always thought reaching your mid-twenties meant you’d have so much of your life sorted out. I thought I’d be engaged, maybe even married. I thought I’d own my very own house and have a dog and a cat. I thought I’d be in a well paid job that I loved and would be going on holidays all the time.

But I’ve come to realise how far from that life really is. Don’t get me wrong some amazing things have happened in my twenties. I graduated University, I got my little cat Zeus, I moved more times than I’d like to remember, and I just scored my dream job in the city I’ve always loved and wanted to live in. But I’m still racked with student loans, it’ll be years before I’ll own a house, I haven’t been on a single holiday this year and I am definitely not ready to get engaged. So where does this leave me?

Well like anyone else, I’m still figuring things out. I’m taking each day as it comes and working towards making a better life for myself. But what I’ve also realised I need to do is stop living for the future and be happy with what I’ve achieved so far, and what I’m working on right now. So with that I’ve come up with some life goals I’d like to achieve by the time I’m 25. That way when I truly hit my mid-twenties I can look back on all the amazing things I’ve achieved in a year and remind myself that I’m on the right track.

Travel to at least two new countries

Reach 5,000 followers on Instagram

Do the North Coast 500

Get my fitness level back on track

Read 25 different books

Have a girls weekend with my besties

Run my first 10K

Learn to drive (finally)

Ride the Jacobite Steam Train

Visit the Warner Brothers Studio

Buy my first car

Spend more time visiting friends & family

Go vegan for a full month

Visit a proper Christmas Market

Write a blog post about all these things

And there you have it. I hope by this time next year I can say I’ve successfully completed (or at least tried) all of these things. Let me know if you’ve given yourself any life goals, I’d love to hear them!

Love Lauren -xx

This will be such a lovely post to look back on! I’d love to do one of these at the start of next year, it’s a lot more adventurous than setting resolutions. I’ll definitely pop going vegan for a short while on my list, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do,

Growing up means realising we’re all winging it and no one has clue.

This is such a good idea! I haven’t done a list like this in ages you’ve inspired me to write my own now. Having a deadline for a years time is a good idea too because you’re less likely to put them off and it gives you an excuse to do some fun things each month. Good luck with it! And happy belated birthday!!!
